little ding dongs

my first classes were terrible! the kids were out of control! it's the end of the semester. also, english class is a break class from their really difficult classes. if they bad tho ima get one of those feisty taiwanese women teachers to discipline them

Monday and tuesday classes were good tho

we watched music videos and they wrote down the words they understood. then we practiced pronouncing the words. only I can get away with playing coldplay and adele at a taiwanese school.

watching "stronger" by kelly clarkson
there are 5 other byu people here. they are all really nice. the couple here has a 1 year old baby named milo! he never cries or anything. we were with him for a whole day in tapei and he sat there smiling.

Two people in our group got some severe digestion problem and went to the hospital. not enough fiber.
delish pastries with vanilla cream filling. you would never think taiwan would have good pastries
good thing i found the organic store yesterday! time to start eating somewhat healthy again!

they do have organic! the yogi store
I have a lot of days off this month. more than half of january. perfect

the girl interns are celebrities cuz they're both white. the kids behave perfectly for them. the students clapped when the girls walked in to eat lunch with them

people here love everything american. they love basketball, especially kobe bryant. it's crazy that the world wants our movies, books, tv, music, clothes, sports, humor.... everything. the taiwanese want to be american more than any other country i've been to

i bought plane tickets! i'm going to hong kong in a few weeks (staying for a whole week!) and then in may im going to mainland china (with a day layover in manila, philippines)!
very red. ill celebrate chinese new years in hong kong
There's no sidewalks and the drivers are nuts. i always feel like i'm going to get run over. asians can't drive!

here they are crazy about not using electricity. they don't leave cables plugged in and turn the water heater on just to shower. the lights in my hallway last 10 seconds before they shut off. SO annoying when I'm doing laundry!

sounds like dad would fit in

I traveled to taichung city on my own! i met up with a friend teaching down there. it's amazing how far you can get by just pointing
i woke up and everyone was off the train. quick panic moment

k good i got it
For fun the taiwanese go to night markets. they're basically flee markets but better. that's so much better than going to an american mall and shopping at abercrombie

We went to the museum of modern art in taichung. weird stuff

cool building made out of see through materials
I'm a lot like dad. i like to just disappear and do my own thing. i dont like traveling in groups. saturday we spent 50 minutes deciding what to eat

food at a ritzy restaurants are 1/4-1/3 of the price in the U.S.
Strange food of the week. it's a drink
"plum flavor fermented bean curd" what's that?
Our boss never tells us anything ahead of time. every day's a surprise

example, tomorrow is parade day. she just told us all classes were canceled. the theme is the movie "up"
one of the students dressed up as the boy from up. poor chubby little chinese boy
the most common word used here is "nigga". it means "um". i love it
