i went to taroko gorge on the east side of taiwan. took 6 hours to get there. how is that even possible in this little country?
we rented a scooter for super cheap and drove through the gorge. it was awesome

I got my chinese name. It's Mi Kai Ping. i'm officialy chinese!
at the hostel there were a lot of cool americans. some were from West Point and they seemed like really good people. gives me hope for our country

another reason why taiwan is awesome - i had a small bike service done and they charged me three bucks. i asked them to do more services and they did everything on the spot and wouldn’t accept the extra money i offered them.
no nickel and diming here (as opposed to utah and jersey.) asians understand loyalty
i wonder how american businesses even survive here

tuesday when i started teaching i asked 2 of the students why they were standing.
they said as a punishment they had to stand all week. at first i thought it was funny.

then i remembered they are in school 12+ hours a day and even go to school on saturday. can you imagine standing all that time?
